This problem is especially acute for areas with increased hardness and mineralization of natural waters. The impact of the water demineralization degree on the corrosion rate of elements in diesel engine cooling systems of locomotives has been researched. The dependence of the corrosion rate for various metals on the degree and depth of desalination and the cooling liquid temperature is proved. Recommendations on optimizing the technology of cation treatment for cooling liquids ensuring the efficiency and durability in the operation of diesel engines of locomotives were developed.Item type:Item, Rail Passenger Hubs(Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania, 2019) Bobyl, Volodymyr V.; Charkina, Tetiana Yu.; Martseniuk, Larysa V.; Matusevych, Oleksii O.; Keršys, A.ENG: Тhe question about the organization of transport passenger HUBs in Ukraine has been raised at the conferences of Ukrzaliznytsia for several years, but each specialist understands this issue in different ways. Тhe authors of the article have set the purpose to determine what the rail hubs are needed for, what conditions are necessary for their construction, what functions the HUBs will perform and what theoretical structure they have. For the first time in Ukraine, we formulated the complex task concerning the organization of railway passenger transfer centres, formulated the refined terminological definition of the rail HUB, with the simultaneous operation of transfers, which will significantly reduce the travel time and improve the comfort. Тo solve this issue, we used a systematic approach allowing to determine the refined terminological definition - the railway HUB, the purpose they are built for, the places of their construction, the main functions and the volume of services rendered. Тhe necessary conditions for the construction of rail HUBs have been determined. Тhe refined terminological definition of the rail HUB and the sphere of rail HUB as a combination of socio-economic relations have been proposed. Тhe transfer variants have been considered. Implementation of the new functions of transport transfer centres (hubs) will allow the management of JSC "Ukrainian Railways" to create additional amenities for passengers and improve the quality of their services by optimizing train schedules, reducing travel time, providing additional transfers for passengers and luggage, as well as shopping and entertainment services.Item type:Item, Rationale for Choosing the Type of Traction Rolling Stock for the Enterprise of Industrial Transport(Kaunas University of Technology; Publishing House “Technologija“, Kaunas, Lithuania, 2018) Kozachenko, Dmytro M.; Dovbnya, Mikola P.; Ochkasov, Oleksandr B.; Serdiuk, Volodymyr N.; Shepotenko, Anatolii P.; Keršys, A.ENG: Shunting locomotives are used to carry out shunting and clean-up operations on the routes of most private and state enterprises of industrial transport in various spheres of activity. In most cases, the power of these locomotives significantly exceeds the pre-determined volume of works, especially if the work has cyclical nature. One of the options for solving the problem of transportation for owners of small industrial enterprises, grain elevators and other similar enterprises may be the presence of their own traction rolling stock. Moreover, its technical and economic characteristics must fully comply with the conditions and volumes of shunting/clean-up operations of the enterprise. Definition of the most rational type of traction rolling stock should be carried out taking into account the available track infrastructure of the enterprise, volumes and organization of shunting and clean-up operations, organization of the system and production cost of maintenance and repair. The authors proposed a technique of comparative analysis of technical and operational indicators for the utilization of various types of traction rolling stock using traction calculation methods and ways to organize the operational performance. This will allow the owner of the industrial enterprise to choose the type of traction rolling stock (locomotive, locotractor or steam-accumulator locomotive), which most closely comply with the conditions of a particular enterprise. At the same time, the company's cost reduction for operation of the traction rolling stock is ensured.
