    Leadership in the Student Collective

    EN: Objective. The aim of the article is to study the phenomenon of leadership in the student collective. Methods. During the research and to achieve its goal, theoretical research methods were used, including analysis and synthesis, generalization, explanation. Results. As a result, the problems of formation of leadership qualities in students of higher education institutions are analyzed, the development history of the leadership problem, the versatility of the concept are considered. Interpretations of the leadership phenomenon existing in domestic and foreign literature are presented. The phenomenon of the leadership role differentiation in a group is analyzed, the role of libraries in the formation of students’ leadership competence is highlighted. Conclusion. The conclusion indicates that for the effective formation of students’ leadership qualities it is necessary to study their psychological characteristics and that libraries play a significant role in the process of formation of students’ leadership qualities.

    The Role and Place of the Library as an Information Centre in the Process of Learning Foreign Languages

    ENG: This paper provides an overview of the importance and place of the library in foreign language learning. Objective. The purpose of the article is to study the role and place of the Scientific Library of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv as an information centre in the process of learning foreign languages. Methods. The paper uses a set of theoretical research methods, in particular: analysis, synthesis, generalisation, abstraction, interpretation, as well as comparative, descriptive and comparison methods. Results. The results of this research, as well as the conclusions drawn on their basis, are of practical value for lecturers, teachers and students interested in using libraries to improve the process of learning foreign languages. Conclusions. The study has shown that modern libraries are powerful information centres that not only create a comfortable environment for the cultural development of students, but also for their educational development, including when learning foreign languages.

    The role of Library and Information Environment in the Formation of Foreign Language Communicative Competence of Future Specialists in Armaments and Equipment of Engineering Troops

    ENG: Objective. This paper explores the significance of the library and information environment of a scientific library in developing the foreign language communicative competence of future specialists in armaments and equipment for engineering troops. The aim of the article is to justify the role of the library and information environment in fostering foreign language communicative competence among these future professionals. Methods. The analysis and synthesis of scientific, pedagogical and methodological literature, descriptive method, etc. were used in the study. Results. The results of the study, as well as the conclusions drawn on their basis, are of practical value for teachers of higher military educational institutions, methodologists, librarians and developers of educational programmes aimed at improving the level of foreign language training of future specialists in weapons and engineering of engineering troops. Conclusions. The study reveals that the library and information environment serves as a powerful resource for shaping such competence, as the integration of traditional and modern information technologies, the emphasis on cadets’ needs, and the openness to innovative approaches collectively contribute to the preparation of highly qualified specialists capable of effective communication and professional engagement in an international context.

    The Use of English-Language Materials of Cultural Heritage of Ukraine and Library Resources for the Formation of Patriotic and Intercultural Competences of Military University Teachers

    ENG: This study examines how English-language materials on Ukraine’s cultural heritage and library resources contribute to the development of patriotic and intercultural competences among teachers of military higher education institutions. Objective. The purpose of this work is to substantiate and analyse the pedagogical potential of English-language cultural heritage materials and library resources in fostering patriotic and intercultural competences of teachers in military higher education institutions. Methods. The paper uses a set of theoretical research methods, including analysis of scientific sources in the field of pedagogy, linguodidactics and cultural studies, generalisation and systematisation of normative documents on language training of teachers, as well as comparison, systematisation, system-structural and system-functional analysis. Results. The results of the study have shown that the integration of English-language cultural sources and the possibilities of library collections provides deepening of knowledge about national heritage and the development of the ability to present it in an intercultural context, which contributes to the professional mobility of teachers. Conclusions. It is concluded that the systematic involvement of these resources in the educational process of military higher education institutions creates conditions for a harmonious combination of patriotic education with the development of intercultural communication skills, which is an important component of the modern educational paradigm.
