In the course of research it is stated that realia originate in popular culture and are natural to plenty of texts and genres. The conclusion is that realia are represented with a number of literary tropes, which help to create authentic atmosphere of the late 50s America.Item type:Item, Analytical Review of the Impact of Martial Law on the Adaptation of English Terminology in Ukraine(Yerevan State University, 2025) Tarasova, Vitalina; Miroshnychenko, Iryna G.; Shestakova, Svetlana A.; Chukhno, Tetiana; Maksymova, AnnaENG: Martial Law in Ukraine, initiated due to Russia’s large-scale invasion in 2022, has significantly impacted various aspects of the country’s life, including linguistic processes. In globalisation and active collaboration with international organisations, English is crucial in professional communication, particularly in defense, medical, technical and humanitarian fields. This study aims to review the impact of martial law on the adaptation of English terminology in Ukraine. The methods included structured interviews with students studying English and practising translation, surveys to collect quantitative data on challenges encountered while adapting English military terminology (the study focuses on military texts originating from the United States and the United Kingdom) into Ukrainian and observations of educational sessions. A total of 43 academic works were selected to explore the article’s topic, conduct a comparative educational analysis and delve into translation processes and neology issues. The study involved 45 participants, including 15 students. The results revealed that incorporating English military terminology into Ukrainian has significantly accelerated and acquired new characteristics. The analysis of relevant literature uncovered the peculiarities of translating military terminology from diachronic and synchronic perspectives. The research findings have shown that English military terminology presents significant challenges and complexities in translation, as it serves both an expressive and a referential function. The exotic nature of these borrowed terms indicates connotative intensification, reflecting an ideologically rather than terminologically driven segmentation of extralinguistic reality.Item type:Item, Angel of the Mist – елементи готичного в романі Карлоса Руїса Сафона «The Shadow of the Wind»(Бердянський державний педагогічний університет, 2015) Мунтян, Антоніна Олександрівна; Шпак, Ірина ВолодимирівнаUK: У даній статті автори роблять спробу дослідити деякі особливості проявів «готичного» в романі «Тінь вітру» іспанського автора Карлоса Руіса Сафона. В ході дослідження автори говорять про те, що готичному роману притаманна атмосфера жаху та невідомого; сюжет роману ґрунтується на таємниці; герої роману потрапляють у вир почуттів. Жах є суто індивідуально первинною емоцією, а готичний роман є відродженням емоції в її чистому виді, емоції, яку автори готичних романів відображають на тлі, або радше у рамках певних архітектурних, або природних елементів, наприклад, на тлі похмурого маєтку. В. Лазаряна, Дніпро, 2019) Koliieva, Iryna A.; Kuptsova, Tatiana A.EN: Purpose. To study the phenomenon of a woman-author as a subject of culture and philosophy from a development of literary aspect in the works both Western and Ukrainian scientists. To define the significance of the philosophical representation of the gender stereotypes to reconsider their place and role in the socio cultural discourse. Theoretical basis. To investigate the theoretical framework in the postmodern philosophy the cross-disciplinary approach is used. The comparative approach is methodologically important to clarify the problems concerning a woman-author as a subject of culture. It is underlined that the boundary line between literature and philosophy is movable, which coincides with the shapes of the human experience. Based on the conviction that gender has integrated into all social relations, that means it is a gender context of any social interaction, it is important to emphasize the productivity of a new scientific methodology of sociocultural constructing of gender. Originality. Is in systematic literary analysis of Ukrainian and Western women’s prose as specific philosophical phenomenon. It was proved that the investigation of women’s literature, its identity is an important focus of both philosophy and culture, which helps find philosophical problems in literary texts. Besides the analysis of gender implications in texts allows to start theoretical dialogue on gender problems, which means the participation in the discussion about the targets of our cultural life. Conclusions. It has been proved that literature of the ХХth -XXIst centuries is characterized by strengthening interaction between philosophical systems and literary works that reflects mainstreaming of intellectual and thinking bases. It was revealed that women’s philosophical and literary conceptions have created a unique woman’s world of being and an image of "a new woman", thus leading the way towards the new stereotypes based on comprehension that sex differences should not be determining factors both in cultural and social coexistence.Item type:Item, Antitheses as a Stylistic Device to Reveal Howard Roark’s Character in the Novel «The Fountainhead» by Ayn Rand(Одеса, 2018) Muntian, Antonina O.; Shpak, Iryna V.EN: Annotation: The aim of the current piece is an attempt to analyze artistic image of Howard Roark in the novel “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand. Im Zeitalter der globalen Informatisierung von Gesellschaft und Ausbildung erfordert die Verbreitung neuer digitaler Medien und Ausbildungsumgebungen völlig neue Ansätze, um die Werte der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien im Informations- und Ausbildungsraum zu verstehen. Der Artikel skizziert die Probleme der modernen Medienkultur, deren Bewusstsein dazu beitragen wird, humanistische Ideale im Zeitalter der digitalen Technologie zu bewahren. Das Phänomen der Medienkultur ist für die Analyse der kulturellen Aspekte der Informationsgesellschaft relativ neu. All diese Umstände veranlassten die Autoren, ihre Meinung im Rahmen dieser Arbeit zu äußern. Die Autoren betrachten Multimedia-Technologien als eine wichtige und mächtige moderne Informationsquelle für die Entwicklung der Erkenntnisaktivitätten der Studenten, ihrer Schaffenskreativitäten, Interessen, Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten, ihres unabhängigen, flexiblen, variablen, kritischen Denkens. An den Universitäten nimmt der Multimedia-Einsatz beim Fremdsprachenunterricht ständig zu. Der Einsatz von Computern im Fremdsprachenunterricht erwies sich als ein vielversprechender Weg. Beim Studium der Fremdsprachen mit Hilfe von Computern kann man die Lernaktivitäten der Studenten mit hoher Genauigkeit und Objektivität durch ständiges Feedback kontrollieren. The authors talk about the concept of the representation of the feminine self as a part gender studies and the fact that it becomes more and more acute; it deals with beauty stereotypes and takes one of the prominent places in practically all the western cultures. They mention that the basic aim for a literary work is conveying some specific cultural ideas, discursive peculiarities; however, it is important to understand that discourse cannot be regarded as a purely linguistic notion, it represents interests for psychologists, linguists, culture experts as well as scholars in the in the study of literature. The research touches upon the philosophy of Ayn Rand’s, i.e. objectivism. Her philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute. Further the authors argue that objectivism and feminism, specifically radical feminism, are concepts which may rarely be put together, as far as objectivism is extremely about individualism, while feminism struggles for collective result. In its turn feminism, especially radical feminism sees a number of misogynistic traits in objectivism and perceives the latter as a ‘white male’ construct. The authors come to the conclusion that the basic idea of Rand’s regarding the women rights was that women had not only rights, but responsibilities as well. In her viewpoint success of a woman did not depend on the career she obtained, but rather on the values she possessed. Die Autoren gehen dieser Problematik nach und zeigen, dass das Erlernen der Grammatik einer Fremdsprache oft unbewusst geschieht: die Studenten studieren Grammatikregeln und führen dafür Übungen durch. Aber die Studenten finden es schwierig, mit Literatur in einem fremdsprachigen Fach (Deutsch) zurechtzukommen, da es an soliden Grammatikkenntnissen mangelt. Misserfolge kann man durch den Mangel an elementaren sprachlichen Kenntnissen der Studenten erklärt werden. Die Autoren des Beitrages erklären, wie dieses Problem gelöst werden kann. Die Autoren zeigen Wege und Methoden der Entwicklung einer lexikalischen Fremdsprachenkompetenz beim Erlernen einer Fremdsprache (Deutsch) für Studenten einer technischen Universität. It is believed that an interactive class must incorporate participation in order to assure learner centered teaching and better results. Brainstorming is one of the popular techniques of participative approach to decision making which can be employed in a pedagogic situation as well. The present study is of exploratory type. It uses descriptive approach of research, however questionnaires have been used to elicit primary data from the concerned samples. The article is based on combining general scientific methods and linguistic research methods, particularly the method of cognitive discursive analysis, the psycholinguistic method of associative experiment, and the method of conceptual analysis. For the representation of the research sampling, statistical techniques are also applied. The concept of “China” in Ukrainian people's linguistic consciousness has a high cultural status and significant information saturation. The concept of “China” is a territorial concept with a core word-toponym, which aims to comprehensively reflect the national interpretation of the research subject through appeals to the geographical, cultural, and historical realities of the country. The results of the analysis of the concept “China” in the Ukrainian language picture of the world must be useful for further study of actualization of this concept in the Ukrainian and English languages, for the research of the concept in other discourses. The material of the article can be employed at lectures on the course of cross-cultural communication and linguoculturology. The article describes the structural organization of the concept of “China”, represented by using informative, assessment, and associative componentsidents verified by the Ukrainian native speakers. All studies were carried out using the finite element method with the use computer complex SCAD. The object of research was a bunker of a bypass track for feeding bulk materials with a total volume of up to 70 m3. The study analysed the natural partial frequency spectrum and the partial oscillation modes of individual load-bearing elements of the bunker. Based on the results of the data analysis, a rather high quantitative density of the natural frequency spectrum was determined. At the same time, its lower limit is about 25-30 Hz for an empty bunker capacity and decreases to 3-5 Hz when the bunker is fully loaded, which is dangerous from the point of view of the possibility of resonance phenomena. In order to qualitatively and quantitatively control the dynamic characteristics, it was proposed to change the steel strength of the structure, which made it possible to change the natural frequencies by about 15% for every 100 MPa change in steel strength for the bunker containers of the considered type.Item type:Item, Eine der Effektiven Formen des Erlernens der Fremdsprache (preprint)(Рівненський державний гуманітарний університет, Рівне, 2021) Smyrnowa, Maya L.DE: Der Beitrag beschreibt eine der effektivsten Formen des Erlernens einer Fremdsprache, die in den letzten Jahren weit verbreitet war - die Projektmethode. The article considers the development of HE student’s critical thinking in a VUCA world. The implications of FL academic reading for shaping critical thinking are analyzed within theoretical visions and existing practices. Its efficiency was compared to the current domestic product range of Ukraine on the example of angle bars, channel sections and flanged beams. Special attention is paid to the system of designations and marking of product mix items. The publication presents the main results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the modern hot rolled steel assortment of India, which is used for steel building structures. The shaped hot rolled steel products are considered, represented in the standards of both countries by four types of profiles – equal leg angles, unequal leg angles, channel and beams. Special attention is paid to the system of designations and labeling of products of the assortment. In general, it should be noted that the overall organization and principle of construction of the analyzed assortments of India and Ukraine are quite similar. The main fundamental difference is the availability in the standard of India of a wider range of profile varieties within one step, which makes it possible to more efficiently choose the required section in the design. However, the step itself is widely than in domestic standards, which negates such dignity. Angels profiles in the Indian assortment have a wider range of thicknesses and are represented by a large number of sizes, especially for unequal leg angles, which is connected with a significant distribution of such profiles in the supporting elements of steel structures. Channel profiles in general have approximately the same degree of efficiency and the number of standard sizes in the assortments of both countries. In the standard of India, profiles with flange slopped shelves are displayed in more way and, in the domestic standard, with parallel shelves. Beam profiles have the largest number of sizes in both assortments, but unlike the domestic standard in India's standard, they are presented only in cross-sections with flange slopped shelves. In this case, the profiles aimed at bending, according to the domestic assortment have specific characteristics averaged on 15 – 40 % higher with a less on 30 – 40 % by weight. In this connection, it is necessary to direct students' training in the development of abilities to solve problems related to the future specialty and to present their results by means of a foreign language, that is, the formation of a foreign language professional communicative competence.Item type:Item, The Feminine and Masculine Archetypes in the Structure of a Pagon Myth(Дніпропетровський національний університет залізничного транспорту імені академіка В, Лазаряна, Дніпропетровськ, 2014) Kuptsova, Tatiana A.EN: The aim of the article is to reveal peculiarities of the formation of feminine and masculine archetypes in a pagon myth; to substantiate, how male and female bodies change into archetypes; to analyze peculiarities of the archetypes' influence on stereotype formation in the mythological consciousness of our ancestors. Methods and approaches. To understand gender symbolical and imaginative sphere of culture of great importance is K. G. Yung's theory of archetypes. Historical and philosophical understanding of theoretic gender representation is possible owing to methods of feminist cultural criticism. To investigate specific features of archetypes' influence on the gender stereotype formation in mythological consciousness of our ancestors the theory of ethnoarchetype developed by V. F. Yatchenko is also valuable. Scientific novelty. It is proved, that the mythological consciousness of Ukrainian ancestors and their archetypes had no strictly fixed social status. The transformation into patriarchal male and female stereotypes was influenced by the essentialistic establishments which defined man's social role as a leading one and a woman's one as of minor importance. The social and cultural secondary role of woman was softened by female mystic charisma, based on the ability to give birth and to be mother of every living being. In the Ukrainian culture this role was embodied in the sacral archetype of the Mother-Land, which led to complimentary attitude of national philosophy to feminine concept. With the help of historical, philosophical and gender scientific methods the original material was analysed, which helped to discover the particularities of gender stereotypes influence on the formation of vision in the Ukrainian philosophy. Conclusion. The analysis given in this article proves that the archetypes of Anima and Animus as sensually perceived culture – ontological transcendent reality, being psychological immanent reality, were reflections of the objectively existing structures of being, combination of real and ideal, space and mental. In the structure of the mythological consciousness they existed as unperceived but determinant factors of the material world praphenomenon of being. This is largely due to the important role that a foreign language plays for the life of today's society. And the study of any foreign language is closely connected with the study of new vocabulary and the constant replenishment of the vocabulary of students. Lexical knowledge is an important part in the student's cognitive activity. As an integral part, they are included in the “cognitive base” of students; provide a solid lexical basis in mastering the language. For an effective and fruitful process, teaching a foreign language in a technical university is very important in the selection of certain types of exercises and their sequence in the learning process. This article discusses and analyzes similar types of exercises, which should be distinguished taking into account the sequence of formation of skills and the nature of the operations underlying them. Each type should include species that ensure sufficient repetition of new lexical units.
