Historical exploration of the sources of a new world order and its fragility involves imperialist narratives being the causes of some geopolitical conflicts. All the great empires inevitably lose their power and status, but some former empires still feel the phantom pains of their former greatness, which may have unforeseen historical consequences. Ian McEwan’s latest novel, Lessons (2022), covers a long period of time to deliver a powerful meditation on history and humanity through one man’s life across generations and historical (un)doings. The article focuses on the literary representation of some historical contexts and attempts at resisting collective amnesia, in order to illustrate how a blatant disregard for the painful lessons of history invites the occurrence of new cruelties of imperialist ideology.Item type:Item, Colliding Utopian and Dystopian Worlds: Revising Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and Ahmed K. Towfik’s Utopia(Librarie Du Liban Publishers, Beirut, Lebanon, 2022) Bohovyk, Oksana A.; Bezrukov, Andrii V.ENG: The article discusses two symptomatic texts that are imbricated within the utopian/dystopian ambience: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and Utopia by Ahmed Khaled Towfik. The style and structure of the selected novels are revealed at the level of the chronotope and aimed at clarifying the correlation of genre-forming components within the triad of a ‘person – civilisation – society’. This paper tests a hypothesis that the discursive representation of these components in a narrative structure is realised through colliding utopian and dystopian worlds. Problematising this idea in fiction reveals how the tension between the diametrically opposed worlds promotes critical scrutiny of both to draw attention to the most pressing social problems facing humanity: the role of ordinary people in society, impact of mass media on public opinion, dissolution of morals, social disparity, drug addiction, etc. The study primarily follows a phenomenological-hermeneutic approach to exploring the theoretical and practical aspects of utopian/dystopian worldviews in the literary dimension. The dichotomy of utopia/dystopia manifests in the novels through the overt conflict of different patterns of life, mentalities, and cultures. Analysing the ways of a literary embodiment of this conflict in Bradbury’s and Towfik’s books explicates how creating a new reality from utopian/dystopian perspectives alters consciousness and promotes a completely different paradigm of existence.Item type:Item, Communicative Methods of Forming Professional Competences of Future Foreign Specialists During Distance Learning of Ukrainian Language in HEIs(Redfame Publishing, 2022) Zavaruieva, Inna I.; Bondarenko, Larysa; Lutsenko, Valentina; Nazarenko, Olena; Fedko, Olha M.ENG: The COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's military aggression against Ukraine have surely influenced the intensive development of distance learning and showed the difficulties that occurred during the educational process, especially for foreign students. Under such conditions, the use of the latest means of teaching the Ukrainian language has become one of the main priorities for the training of future foreign specialists in higher education institutions. The purpose of the work is to analyze and identify effective methods that will develop communicative abilities of foreign students in the process of learning Ukrainian. During the study, video materials, dictionaries and color schemes were used, and the survey was conducted with second and third year students. The results of the research showed that introducing students to the cultural heritage of Ukraine before the direct study of the language increased their motivation and desire to learn Ukrainian. In addition, due to the use of role/business games and video materials in stages in accordance with their specialization, there was an increase in vocabulary, as indicated by high rates of listening. In case of problems with the perception of information and its adequate understanding (reception), mnemonics were used, which included non-verbal sign language or the principle of situationality. The study also showed that most students have difficulties with learning grammar. Therefore, the method of color schemes was used, which helped to focus on the exceptions and rules with a certain color. The methodology proposed by the authors was used in the study of cases of noun and adjective. At the same time, students independently chose colors and made an association with the concept indicated by the teacher. In addition, during the work it was advisable to use dictionaries, in particular, to search for words of foreign origin, which greatly influenced the process of proper understanding of the educational material by foreigners. The results show positive changes for effective, high-quality and fast learning of Ukrainian language by foreigners.Item type:Item, Conceptual View of the World and Means of Its Media Interpretation in Modern Theatrical Journalism of Ukraine(Redfame Publishing, USA, 2022) Galatska, Valentyna L.; Filipenko, Viktoria; Mamchych, Inna; Dashko, Nataliia; Nechyporenko, SvitlanaENG: The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that the methods of media interpretation of the worldview are shown in the ambiguity of the theatrical concept of view of the world in modern art. This is an important problem of the scientific tools development for the combination of different theatrical journalistic approaches, which are considered around the industry of mass culture, and have an impact on the development of social values in times of war tension. The conceptual view of the world in theatrical journalism allows a comprehensive approach to the diverse expression of symbolism, which the subjects build and reconstruct in the cultural field, demarcated in various institutional spaces. The purpose of the study is to consider the characteristics and elements of the communicative content of cultural and spiritual aspects of the worldview in the current space of theatre journalism. The following methods were used to achieve the stated purposes: system, content analysis method, and comparative. The work results determined that the concept of the modern worldview of Ukraine makes it possible to historically restore cultural traditions and their expression as a sample of the cultural structure the analysis. Theatre as a cultural element of a person forms their personality, starting with parallel events of present, based on a set of principles of society and culture. Philosophical structures, religions or political systems provide an interpretive basis with a complex vision, and sometimes with a resistant to changes vision. It was identified that questions about the world are inextricably connected with the development of culture and art. Possible answers to these questions are concentrated in works of art, the structure of which is based on original intuitions, concepts, categories, truths of the mind, axioms and symbols. All these factors create a semantic network that materialises in essential aspects of any human community. The practical significance is in the use of the work results by theatre journalists for the development of Ukrainian culture and independence during the Russo-Ukrainian war.Item type:Item, Creating Communicative Space and Textual Reality via Emotiogenic Means in Fictional Discourse(Aesthetics Media Services, 2021) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Bohovyk, Oksana A.ENG: The article focuses on the strategies of reconstructing communicative space between the author and reader as well as forecasting the emotional impact on the reader through transforming textual reality. The emotiogenic characteristics of fictional discourse provide the emotional perception of literary texts since emotions are central to the experience of literary narrative fiction. Such a perception is made possible by the identification, comprehension, and interpretation of the emotionally significant textual components of different types. The authors of the article have classified them as the following: graphical and visual, punctuation, and semantic-stylistic ones. These means, found in the postmodern novels by Salman Rushdie, Tahereh Mafi, Marina Lewycka, Kazuo Ishiguro, Alexandar Hemon, and Stephen King, have been analysed to explicate the character of the phenomenon of emotiogenic fictional narratives. The emotiogenic means in the selected novels are exploited by the writers of different ethnic affiliations that can be resulted from their multicultural experience. The superimposition of some means is explained by their semantic relationship. The article tests a hypothesis that the cognitive architecture of the emotiogenic means is determined by an emotional situation reflected in a literary text that appears to be a special code through which readers interpret their emotional and evaluative meanings. The indicators of the text’s emotionality occur to be signs of the textual representation of emotional knowledge. This study contributes to the investigation of the emotiogenic means of creating communicative space which are considered those discursive expressive elements that affect the perception of textual reality. Two symptomatic texts – Alexandar Hemonʼs The Lazarus Project (2008) and Markus Zusak’s Bridge of Clay (2018) – have been explored through a rhizomatic reading to illustrate how these novels embody the principles of the rhizome as a disposition of postmodern thinking. The stories demonstrate a distinctive form of rhizomatic writing characterised by fragmentation, the imitation of chaotic composition, the blending of various genre elements, and the inclusion of different types of art (intermediality). Moreover, the article focuses on the rhizomatic transformations of time that shape the literary landscape within the novels, addressing concepts of the pre-past, past, present, and future via the past. A rhizomatic way of creating fiction texts actualises the idea of interdisciplinarity as the topical project in the humanities. By employing the concept of the rhizome, the article engages with the deconstructive potential of postmodern literature and the dispositional mode of its representation.Item type:Item, Deutsch für Technische Fachrichtungen. Богдана Хмельницького, Мелітополь, 2017) Vlasova, Tetiana I.; Krivtchik, Gennadiy G.EN: The “postmodern situation” demands to think of time and people historically in an age, when “objective history” is denied and rejected. One consequence of this paradox is predominance of hermeneutics in philosophy, literature, linguistics – science, in general. Everything is open to interpretation, varieties of interpretations of historic events and historical people are included in the hermeneutical discourse, incorporated with the problem of text in relation to genre. In biographies the real exists (and existed) but our understanding of it is always conditioned by different ways of talking and writing about it. The problem is that people still need objectivity; in reading “histories” – biographies included – we try to understand what is true, and what is opinionated, subjectivated and is simply deceit and fraud. Hence comes the importance of a dialectical method, – a method, which means weighing up contradictory facts or ideas with a view to the resolution of their real or apparent contradictions.Item type:Item, Dialectics VS Hermeneutics: History and Literature in the Analysis of the Biographical Texts (preprint)(Мелітопольський державний педагогічний університет ім. M. Forster’s Novel “The Longest Journey”: The Problem of Translation(“Cambridge University Press”, United Kingdom, 2016) Ustinova, Tetiana A.EN: The article deals with the attempts to translate the title of the famous novel by E.M. Forster as a work, in which the new modernistic maintenance, though traditionally impossible for the Victorian novel is hidden under the customary placing of heroes and subject reasons (male and female relationship, love, marriage). The purpose of the article is to reveal the essence of the novel which helps to give a correct translation of its name into Ukrainian language.Item type:Item, Emotion Concepts for Representing the Vicissitudes of Fate in Markus Zusak’s Bridge of Clay(Київський університет імені Бориса Грінченка, Київ, 2022) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Bohovyk, Oksana A.ENG: The problem of studying emotionally expressive information contained in a text is of considerable interest since it interprets reality, expressing value or emotionally significant attitudes toward this reality. The analysis of the emotivity and expressiveness of a literary text focuses primarily on its research from the cognitive (separation of emotiogenic knowledge) and semantic (determining the features of its use to indicate the author’s purposes) perspectives. A literary text is considered as a dual dimension: on the one hand, it is related to emotions, and on the other hand, it is specified by them. The aim of the article is to identify and examine the emotional concepts represented in Markus Zusak’s Bridge of Clay for portraying the vicissitudes of fate. The breathtaking story revolves around the Dunbar family of ‘ramshackle tragedy’ and brims with pathos. To analyse the emotion concepts, the following methods have been employed: the methods of interpretation and systematisation; contextual, stylistic, and distributive analysis as also a method of emotional valence, and the hypothetico-deductive method. The results of the study show that emotion concepts in Zusak’s Bridge of Clay are realised at the following levels: phonetics, morphology, and semantics, which shows the universality of functioning emotion concepts in fictional discourse. The emotion concept appears as a single entity that consists of attributes of emotivity, which are anthropocentric and character-creating. The lexical units, chosen by Zusak, convey the author’s intentions, explicitly or implicitly indicating the emotional nature of the text. Since characters belong to the category of essential universals of a literary text, the emotional meanings included in its structure have a special informative significance. The character’s emotions are represented as the special psychological reality, and the set of emotions in the text appears as a kind of dynamic plurality that changes as the story develops.Item type:Item, Fighting Windmills: Quixotism and Old/New Issues Facing Humankind(National University of Colombia (Bogotá Campus), 2024) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Bohovyk, Oksana A.ENG: The most recent reimagining of Miguel de Cervantes’s Don Quixote (1605) —Salman Rushdie’s Quichotte (2019)— represents the volatile identities in American society under the conditions of blurring a line between fact and fiction. Exploring quixotism as the conflict of idealism vs realism elucidates the idea of humans who fight with the windmills in their heads. Against the background of this conflict, topical concerns are vividly highlighted to remain constant throughout the centuries, considering specific historical and sociocultural circumstances. The impact of this binary opposition on the worldview of the people of that time and the modern ones, created by Cervantes and Rushdie correspondingly, is a primary focus of the article. Both novels share a symbolic reflection of the world through the distinct aesthetics of a work of fiction that moves them beyond metafictional narration. A comparative study of the diachronically different stories emphasises a similarity of the strong questions raised about the societies whose ideals quixotes reflect.Item type:Item, “Fluid” Temporality: The Conflict of Gender and Age in The Postmodern Socio-Cultural Context(Aesthetics Media Services, India, 2022) Vlasova, Tetiana I.; Skyba, Eleonora; Vlasova, Olha; Liashenko, IrynaENG: Temporality, being an intrinsic property of the subject/object relations in the multiplicity of the socio-cultural and gender narratives, presents one of the most complicated ideas of postmodernity. The project of temporality embraces ambivalent scripts in their “momentous transition”, revealing the attempts at generalizing ages of men and women in the certain “unified” narratives. The latter is expressed in the triad paradigm of “past-present-future” with “present” as the dominating member. While conceptualizing binary oppositions, namely, the dualism “man/woman”, it is evident that nowadays the biological “intrinsic value” of the human being’s identity has become less relevant. The man/woman’s identity is not fixed anymore by anatomy, at present it is “fluid” with the time and age “shifts” of femininity and masculinity. The decentering “situation”, having transformed the temporal aspects of man/woman’s value in the social practices and corresponding narratives, nowadays demands their valorizing by means of the conceptual impact on the transformations of the “liquid temporality”.Item type:Item, Gender, Fashion and Postmodern Discourses(preprint)(Вид-во Маковецький, Дніпропетровськ, 2012) Vlasova, Tetiana I.; Vlasova, Olga P.Item type:Item, “The Great Reset”: the Road to the Peaceful “New World” or a New Global War?(Київський національний університет імені Тараса Шевченка, 2023) Vlasova, Tetiana I. ; Litman, MaksymENG: The review deals with two books, which have caused much debate all over the world, the two authors who are much spoken about – with respect and disrespect, with recognition and contempt. “COVID-19: The Great Reset” by K. Schwab and T. Malleret claims that there has been nothing like COVID-19 in the modern history and points out that this kind of an existential crisis can facilitate introspection that leads to transformations. The supposed transformations are investigated by the authors both in macro categories and micro terms. The world is claimed to enter the chaotic crisis leading to the state of “uncertainty”. As a result, no extraordinary scenario can be excluded concerning geopolitical reset, ecological reset, technological reset and micro transformations with the individual reset. K. Schwab’s opponent, A. Jones, in his “Great Reset and the War for the World” proves that Schwab’s Great Reset represents the global elite’s intention of conspiracy in enslaving humanity both on the macro and micro levels. A. Jones is sure that K. Schwab’s strategy is to use the Great Reset for achieving an unprecedented control over the global problems and individuals’ lives. K. Schwab’s and A. Jones’ opposing arguments are interesting and persuasive. They both have many supporters and opponents of their theses all over the world.Item type:Item, Historical Narratives, Fictional Biographies, and Biblical Allusions in Aleksandar Hemon’s The Lazarus Project as a New Literary Hybrid(Wuhan Guoyang Union Culture & Education Company, 2021) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Bohovyk, Oksana A.ENG: The article proposes a new perception of The Lazarus Project (2008) by Aleksandar Hemon. Literary transformation of the past events in light of historical experience, their reinterpretation, and adoption appear within the novel in the forms of history representation and memory production. The author's position in the book is actualised through its structure with alternating chapters and realised in two conflicting identities: a historian who just records events, and a creator who builds up the conditioned reality of the characters' world. The analysis of the novel's structure displays the hybridity of narrative strategies in historical, fictional, and biblical dimensions. Including photography in literary hybridisation highlights a means through which the forms of the representation of the author's worldview get separated from existing practices and recombine with new ones. The conjunction of biography, photography, space and time frames in The Lazarus Project refers to a specific type of narration that underlines its transnational character. The article also deconstructs the examples of biblical allusions and as direct so indirect references to the Bible that can be a way of transcending historical barriers. Originality in research of Hemon's novel as a representative of migrant literature consists in revealing the influence of transcultural narratives of contemporary postcolonial fiction on the migrant identity. The application of an interdisciplinary approach intends to demonstrate the diversity of narratives in the book as an original piece of postmodern metafiction.Item type:Item, Interpretation in Post-Postmodern Theoretical Drift and Gender Mutations(Critical Gender Studies Network (CGSN), West Bengal, 2024) Vlasova, Tetiana I.ENG: Objective: To investigate the peculiarities of post-postmodern discourses of interpretation with the accent on their recent gender intersections. Theoretical basis: At the beginning of the XXI century, postmodernist theory, losing its importance and a certain `political correctness', still leaves its key principles of interpretation and relativism unshakable. The appeal of the recent publications is determined by the fact that acts of interpretation permeate all post-postmodern narratives; allegedly, gender narratives are included per se. By interpreting, we bring our own meanings into everyday life, creating our own narratives, which are essentially gender "stories" with the representation of gender discourses. Interpretation is both "fixed" and "open," but the narratives are not "open": the process of constructing narratives is enriched by "natural interpretation," usually with a focus on the cultural and gender constructs. Scientific novelty: With its tendency to change, interpretation is becoming a symbol of the post-postmodern "normalization of change". The subjectivity of interpretation is not a transparent boundary between human beings and the world around them: the "better" the interpretation, the more objective our stories seem, and the stronger the constructs conditioned by society, gender, and ideology become. Conclusions: In a world where everything and everyone is seen as a text, interpretation becomes a crucial issue of theoretical problems. In the absence of a "perfect language," the paradox is that the text simultaneously makes the reader believe in his or her own understanding of its meaning and, by virtue of interpretation, makes this understanding impossible. The influence of language on the being and the being on language is realized in various ways: feminist readings of texts, for example, have both had a huge impact on gender theory and are currently creating a new metamodern wave of the feminist movement. The "work" of interpretation is multivalent and often opaque, but it is the work that conditions the concepts and constructs of culture, society, and gender.Item type:Item, Interpretive Subjectivity and Gender Relativism in the Theories of Postmodernism(Національний педагогічний університет ім. М. П. Драгоманова, м. Київ, 2019) Vlasova, Tatyana I.; Martseniuk, Larysa V.ENG: Interpretation as a stream of our consciousness is determined by dierent contexts and various narratives which stimulate this process reacting to the changeability of the world and human beings in it. The postmodern theory while losing its topicality keeps the key principle of interpretationrm and stable. Interpretation is simultaneously open and fixed, though the process of constructing narratives is not. As interpretation provides vast space for gender, the feminist theory proceeds with the «new feminist reading», and the aim of the feminist criticism lies in revealing misogynism and masculine approaches to dierent discourses and narratives. Still in postmodernism feminist interpretation often rejects «comprehension» in its classical meaning denying analogy, symmetry and equivalence. The subjectivity of feminist interpretation is not a transparent line between the human being and the surrounding world: the «better» is interpretation, the more «objective» seem our narratives, the stronger appear constructs stipulated by culture, gender, ideology.Item type:Item, An Invisible Terror Outside: the Anxiety of Uncertainty, Panic and Isolation in Rumaan Alam’s «Leave the World Behind»(Institut za jezik i književnost, Filološki fakultet, Nikšić, 2024) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Bohovyk, Oksana A.; Budilova, OleksandraENG: Today humanity is going through a period of great upheavals and rapid changes in every sphere of life, including the environment, that inevitably lead to general destabilisation and disruptions. In the latest novel by Rumaan Alam, apocalyptic Leave the World Behind (2020), a crisis appears to reshape our closest bonds and forge new ones. This story of an invisible terror deals with cataclysmic but mysterious events that shut down the communication networks we over-rely on, and sees an almost overwhelming sense of uncertainty, panic and increasing anxiety. Isolated in the remote holiday house with the Vermont stone kitchen tops and night-lit swimming pool, a couple of New Yorkers and their teenage children are looking forward to taking a rest from the routines of city life when catastrophe strikes. In addition to the major theme of the threat of human extinction, Leave the World Behind explores the relationship between class and race and the complexities of parenthood and solitude during an unspecified disaster. Those issues are included in the context of the global problem of anthropogenic impacts on the environment. At the same time, Alam demonstrates how habituation to the ongoing crises in the modern world, including social-ecological transformations, affects the understanding of a severe situation people are facing and ways to prevent it: they have increasing tolerance for the absurd. The suspenseful, provocative and prescient book, Leave the World Behind, captures the generalised panic of 2020, the year of a global outbreak of coronavirus. As a kind of end-of-the-world fiction, the novel is full of moments of exquisite recognition and reappraising of our attitudes the article discusses.Item type:Item, Kommunikatives Lesen und Nacherzählen Beim Beruftsorientierten Fremdsprachenunterricht (auf Dem Stoff der Deutschen Sprache)(Університет імені Альфреда Нобеля, Дніпро, 2020) Manjakina, T. I.; Michlik, O. O.DE: Das Ziel des Artikels ist es, das Lehrpotential des kommunikativen Lesens der Texte zu mannigfaltiger Thematik und deren Nacherzählung bei der berufsorientierten Fremdsprachenaneignung zu veranschaulichen. Одеса, 2018) Pustovoït, N. I.EN:The paper is devoted to teaching grammar of the French language under the modern conditions. Since the processes of communication in the modern world are getting highly significant, this issue should be considered. The desire of Ukraine to join the European community encourages linguists to look for alternative approaches to teaching foreign languages in order to meet the level of European standards. Searching different methods, pedagogical techniques, revealing the potential of students, their intellectual and creative capabilities, leads scholars to conclude that it is necessary to introduce new technologies in the process of teaching foreign languages. Interactive teaching methods change the relationship between a teacher and a student. The student gets involved in the educational process. The use of the Internet, informational training programs opens up new opportunities for learning foreign languages. Grammar of the French language is an important link in this process. Working with tests, preparing presentations, course papers on grammar, etc. allow students to expand their knowledge of grammar, which has a lot of peculiarities such as a phenomenon of asymmetry, which is manifested in different grammatical categories. Partial asymmetry is manifested in moods with a different number of tenses. The discrepancy between the forms of written and oral language led to the emergence of two morphological systems. The grammar system of the French language has a 1ot of polysemantic and indefinite forms; it is diverse due to the means of expressing grammatical meaning. Item type:Item, Lexical Repetition as a Textual Element and Means of Expression in a Work of Fiction (Rumaan Alamʼs Leave the World Behind)(Уманський державний педагогічний університет імені Павла Тичини, Україна, 2023) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Bohovyk, Oksana A.ENG: The re-actualisation of the stylistic device of repetition as an element of textuality and means of expression in a work of fiction, which is manifested in its power to impact readers, their linguistic consciousness, emotional evaluation and culture of perception in a specific manner, meets the research purpose. The article focuses primarily on lexical repetition which is a means of rhythmising words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, etc. Rumaan Alamʼs most recent novel Leave the World Behind (2020) which has been selected for analysis is full of repetitions to give expression to the text. This is explicated through the stylistic functions of repetition which actively participate in creating literary images and semantic compatibility, ensuring narrative integrity and lexical coherence. The research methodology is primarily based on a combination of the methods of hermeneutic, linguistic and stylistic, and semantic analysis. In the article, lexical repetition is proposed to be a structural means of representation and embodiment of the concept of intensification and actualisation. Since the compositional organisation of the novel is found to be linked to its semantic structure, repetition as a textual element accentuates certain paragraph features across the book, making them semantically consistent, thus forming the semantic structure of the novel. Lexical repetition serves as a crucial element of an author’s writing style contributing to the representation of authorial intent.Item type:Item, Linguistic and Communicative Modelling in the theatrical interview Genre(University Alba Julia, Romania, 2022) Galats`ka, Valentyna; Filipenko, Viktoria; Davydenko, Inna; Temchenko, Liliіa; Kutsenko, LudmylaENG: We consider the interview genre to be a kind of dialogic interaction, in which all participants of the interview can take an active part in the discourse construction. The theatrical interview enables the joint activity of a group of communicants to be presented on the pages of a periodical press, who have decided on the form, structure, and content. The authors and participants of the dialog set the time and space limits of the expressions; the speech moves of the respondents. The journalist adds to, summarises, or adjusts the answers, regulates the process of alternation of the cues, and actively influences the processes of topical control. Dialogue encourages communicants to select the set of expressions that most effectively represent intentions and communicative purpose. All of this makes it necessary to develop the right strategy - employing tactics that include the influence of various factors, reducing communicative noises by exploiting the necessary language potential, stylistics, variability of communicative models and social roles, syntax, and modal elements, etc. By strategy in the genre of the theatrical interview, we mean the most effective implementation of the intentions of the speaker, which takes into account the personal (status-role and psychological) characteristics of the communicants. These intentions are focused on achieving a specific purpose of communication, dictated by communicative experience - all this subordinates the participants in the interview to the laws and norms of the appropriate (in the study of the theatre) sphere of communication and modelled conversation situation. It should be noted that the system of tactics of the theatrical interview genre is not limited by the above-mentioned parameters and is an open, constantly updated system. It provides an interesting discursive framing of the thought, programming the broad cultural context of the globalised theatrical epoch of Ukraine.Item type:Item, The Mediametaphor of Contemporary Ukrainian Theatre (Based on Specialised Printed Publications of the Period of Independence)(Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires: Editorial Salud Ciencia y Tecnología, Argentina, 2024) Galatska, Valentyna L.; Dashko, Nataliia; Zharko, Svitlana; Kornilova, Kateryna; Tiahlo, LiubovENG: Introduction: theatre, as an art form, is intricately intertwined with the contemporary media landscape, playing a crucial role in shaping cultural and social values, and influencing the perception and interpretation of significant societal events. Objectives: the relevance of this study is determined by the need to explore the mediametaphor of theatre as an instrument defining images, ideas, and concepts transmitted through the media space. The aim of the research is to uncover the significance of mediametaphor in Ukrainian theatre based on periodicals created during the Independence era: “Kino-Teatr”, “Ukrainskyi Teatr”, “Proscenium”, “Teatralna Besida” and “Teatr Plus”. Method: the article is grounded in theoretical methods such as analytical, content analysis, comparative, and generalisation methods. Results: the research results indicate that the media space allows theatre arts to connect with the audience through various formats, including video transmissions, interactive online performances, and social media. These formats are characteristic of media communication in theatrical centers in all major cities of the country: in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro. This expands the possibilities of communication and interaction for the audience with the theatrical process, shaping their understanding and perception of art. In this context, the mediametaphor of theatre becomes an instrument defining images, ideas, and concepts conveyed to the audience through the media space. Conclusions: the article makes a significant contribution to the scientific literature on theatre journalism and cultural studies, broadening the understanding of these concepts in the modern Ukrainian context.Item type:Item, Methodology Versus Theory: Historical Approaches and the Problematic Field of the Humanities in Postmodernism(Aesthetix Media Services (OPC) Private Limited, India, 2021) Vlasova, Tatiana; Vlasova, Olha; Martseniuk, Larysa V.ENG: Among diverse methodological approaches that are currently represented in the postmodern studies, the one, which dominates nowadays, is the statement that there cannot be any methodology in postmodernism per se otherwise it would be a “relapse” into constructing one more “universalizing method”. Evidently, this assertion is stipulated by the highly pluralized context of the postmodern “normalization of change”, the transformations of the socio-cultural order in accordance with the postparadigmatic shift of the theory. Postmodern researchers both implicitly and explicitly state that the only way to “manage” the increasing pluralism and diversity is unmasking prior modernist ideas and ideals in the individual and general meanings of the human experience. On the other hand, the postmodern methodological “openness” encourages academic ambivalence, which results in the denial of the universal notions and absolute moral values. With the apparent postmodernist accent on the interdisciplinary approaches the “scientific conditions” have become even more complicated: nowadays philosophy, history, theology, gender studies, arts are being connected with biology, genetics, cybernetics, economics, etc. As one of the main components of the postmodern intertextual analysis the historical method is vividly represented both in the western feminist theory and in the eastern post- colonial criticism, poetics of fiction and cultural studies. All mentioned above, appearing in the pluralized modes, occasion the turn into considering interdisciplinary techniques more scrupulously. The objective of this research is to reconstruct conceptually the comparative-historical methodology in the theoretical field of the postmodern humanities with the focus on the specific character of the interpretation of history in the cultural texts. The main thesis of the research reflects the reconstruction of the historical methods as an important systematic and meaning-conscious component in the postmodern theoretical studies. The research proves that nowadays historical approaches are significant and valid because they locate certain techniques into the contemporary scholarly work in order to properly utilize sources and evidences in writing “history”. The value of the comparative-historical method is also based on the fact that it proposes some models and patterns in dealing with the analysis of the particular theory in the interdisciplinary studies. The historical narrative with its objective to tell the “truth” cannot be reflected according to some simple schemes, without taking into account the “hard core” role of the context in the hermeneutic reading of history. Though there is a view that historiography is located “between” modernity and postmodernity, the articulated point of view is that postmodernism, being a theoretical cluster of historical disruption and “brokenness”, in fact, cannot reject the tradition of historicism in the humanitarian studies.Item type:Item, Modern Ukrainian Women in the Army: Realities And Prospects(MAGNANIMITAS Assn., The Czech Republic, 2025) Grabovska, Iryna; Vlasova, Tetiana I.; Nastoiashcha, Kateryna; Tovmash, DmytroENG: The article is devoted to the analysis of the problem of servicewomen in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the realities of war in the gender dimension, the prospects of women in the army, and the issue of the leadership of servicewomen in Ukraine. The issue is extremely relevant today due to Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. The authors aim to find out the prospects of Ukrainian women in the Armed Forces, including leadership positions of Ukrainian women in the army following the example of NATO and a number of countries all over the world. There are already about 8,000 female officers in command positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is noted that modern Western Europe demonstrates a tolerant attitude towards women who serve in the military forces or participate in armed conflicts as warriors. It is considered effective to use the synergy of women and men on the battlefield to achieve military goals. The article analyzes both the attitude of modern Ukrainian society to women warriors and the reactions and experiences of the women warriors themselves, who are well-known to the Ukrainian public. In conclusion it is stressed that a qualitatively new state of the Ukrainian army has been formed, in particular, thanks to the active participation of women.Item type:Item, Multidiscursivity of Cyberbullying as the Epiphenomenon of Social Media Communication in a Screen Society(Chiang Mai University, Thailand, 2023) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Yashkina, Victoriia; Polishko, Nataliia; Budilova, OleksandraENG: Communication modes have significantly changed in recent years. Digitalisation and cybernation of social, scientific and cultural life have caused the emergence of new forms and means of communication. That induces shaping some specific behavioural profiles and manifesting negative traits on the web that sociocultural shifts drive. Cyberbullying has become a highly unwelcome epiphenomenon in social media communication. The inevitable transformation of rapidly changing worldview paradigms, cultural sets and stereotypes actualise the processes determining it. Language reflects those processes and objectifies the modes of communication in cyberspace. They require new research strategies within an interdisciplinary approach. Nonverbal forms of cyberbullying are also fairly common; they combine with language structures to form syncretic patterns. The article discusses the theoretical bases of circulation of those patterns in the multimodal aspect as that approach moves beyond merely language analysis and reveals the polymorphism and multidiscursivity of online communication. Depending on the type of cyberbullying, using various verbal and nonverbal techniques may be of interest in controlling a cyberbully. Clarifying the strategies for representing cyberbullying contributes to a greater understanding of one of the most crucial aspects of social media communication.Item type:Item, Mutation of Dystopian Identity in the Age of Posthumanism: Literary Speculations(Vilnius University, Lithuania; Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, Poland, 2022) Bezrukov, Andrii V.; Bohovyk, Oksana A.ENG: Dystopia, while deconstructing utopian ideas, generates a special type of identity as the consequence of a deviation from anthropocentric principles, crises of national and cultural worldviews, and manifestations of social shifting in a posthumanist world. The article focuses on four symptomatic dystopian texts – George Orwell’s “Nineteen Forty-Eight”, Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451”, Ahmed K. Towfik’s “Utopia”, and Salman Rushdie’s “Quichotte” – to explicate the dichotomous nature of the opposition of identity vs society in posthumanist transformations. Those conditions are considered a cause of the mutation of dystopian identity that troubles its anthropological bases and modes of existence. To reconstruct the posthumanist context and its influence on the dystopian identities in the selected novels, this study has exploited a mixture of the following methods: intertextual, cultural, and genre ones; phenomenological approach; hermeneutic interpretation; conceptualisation, etc. The novelty of the study emanates from the very attempt to interpret the writers’ names of the AGEs represented in the books as a background of storytelling and a lens through which the posthumanist space is transformed from a dystopian perspective.Item type:Item, Narrating Conspiracy Theories: A Paradoxical Ethics of Otherness, Propaganda and Mistrust(University of Milan Publisher, 2023) Bohovyk, Oksana A.; Bezrukov, Andrii V.ENG: Reflecting conspiracy theories in contemporary fiction actualises conspiratorial thinking as a specific sociocultural phenomenon and narrative. Four symptomatic novels – George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, Ahmed Khaled Towfik’s Utopia, and Stephen King’s The Institute – have been analysed from a conspiratorial perspective to illuminate the most efficient ways of shaping the human perception of reality. For this purpose, the following conspiracy elements have been delineated to be the basis of the novels’ poetics: otherness, propaganda and mistrust. They affect the authors’ strategies of storytelling in the books written in the era of the end of truth. Following an interdisciplinary approach that primarily includes the method of narrative construction and semiotic analysis, the article focuses on the conspiracy elements for plotting the selected novels and explicates the conspiracy narratives for manifesting the paradoxical ethics of truth as fiction. Conceptualising this idea in the sociocultural context confers to such a kind of literature a new ethical dimension.Item type:Item, New Enlightenment in the "Break" of Classical Universals (Review of the book «TRUTH» J. D. Caputo (Penguin Books, 2014. 283 p.))(НДІ українознавства Київського національного університету імені Тараса Шевченка, Київ, 2025) Vlasova, Tetiana I.; Vlasova, Olha; Litman, MaksymENG: In “Truth”, which develops a new trend of non-separate modes of “high” and “low” culture, J. Caputo, an internationally recognized philosopher and theologist, explores different notions of truth and how we can define them today. The problem, which J. Caputo puts, is complex and needs deep knowledge of the history of philosophy and theology, beginning with St. Augustine, and covering a wide range of postmodern issues: “Is truth as for St. Augustine the same as God? Does it lie in the Reason of Descartes and Kant? Is it Derrida’s ideas of an event, still being made? Or is it according to the postmodern prophet Nietzsche, a mere ensemble of fiction and metaphors? In “Truth” J. Caputo presents his own surprisingly interesting theory of a new Enlightenment, one that draws on the ancient ideals of truth, God, and wisdom, which embraces the forthcoming post-postmodern comprehension of our age,. The question of truth and religion in modernity/postmodernity, that J. Caputo used as his ”case” for the mutation, which takes place in postmodernism has been discussed since the 70s of the last century with much acute competence by postmodern philosophers. It still embraces post-postmodern researchers, and here J. Caputo posits his own idea of a new Enlightenment, the idea, which is based on the ancient ideals of truth and wisdom, but is of great significance in the changes and transformations of our “post-postmodern”world. J. Caputo's work "Truth" may be of interest to both researchers of postmodernism and post-postmodernism. In Ukrainian philosophical discoursive narratives it should be understood as a part of metamodern philosophical culture and reflection. In the final analysis the idea of a new Enlightenment is being already actively discussed not only by Western philosophers, but also by representatives of the Ukrainian philosophical institutions.Item type:Item, New Religions as the Postsecular Epiphenomenon of Globalisation in the Contemporary Ukrainian Society(Cape Town, South Africa, 2020) Grabovska, Irina; Talko, Tetiana; Vlasova, Tetiana I.ENG: The tendencies of postsecularism in the social life of today’s Ukraine are especially significant in their influence on the quasi-religious context of religious worships practiced in the country. These factors erode the modernity basis of the society, and Ukraine appears in the contradictory situation of its intention to complete the modernisation process and oppose the antiglobalistic isolationism. The neo-Protestant teachings and practices are obviouly connected with the principles of liberalism and consumerism. Neo-Oriental and new syncretic religions show that they produce significant influence on spreading globalistic views in the Ukrainian society. The marginality characteristics of new religions prove the idea that their values are a challenge to the essentialistic dichotomies of the Ukrainian traditional churches. The sociocultural and political context of globalisation and postmodernism includes religious transformations axiomatically, and the impact of both on the late capitalism stage is evident in different contexts. The culture of postmodernism makes this process complicated in the countries which are still between modernity and postmodernity. The processes of ‘label change’ are important with the stress on the substitution of the rationalistic foundation by quasi-scientific teachings. The conclusions demonstrate that the very incompleteness of the modernity has led to the expansion of the quasi-religious techniques in the social and cultural life of Ukraine. The erosion of the modernity values results in spreading new religions, which became vivid at the end of the last century. As globalisation promotes syncretic and neo-Oriental religions, antiglobalistic movements are supported by neo-pagan techniques and practices.
